How do clear aligners work?
Invisalign and Spark treatment comprises a series of bespoke, clear aligners that fit over the top of your teeth and work by applying carefully controlled force to move them into a new, straighter position. Each aligner is worn for around two weeks before you move on to the next one in the series, as each is slightly different.
Technology is used to map the movement your teeth need to make to bring them into the best position. These movements are broken down into stages, and aligners are created with the tiny differences needed to reflect each stage in the teeth straightening journey.

Consultation
Share your smile goals with us during your consultation, where we'll discuss what you’d like to achieve and examine your teeth.
Oral health examination
Before starting your clear aligner treatment, we'll check your oral health to ensure there are no issues like cavities or gum disease that need attention first.
Digital scan
We’ll take a mess-free digital scan of your mouth, giving us highly detailed images of your teeth to create a precise treatment plan.
Smile prediction
Using advanced technology, we’ll create a virtual model of your teeth to show you how your smile will look after treatment.
Custom aligners
Your aligners will be custom-made based on your digital scan. During your fitting appointment, we’ll ensure they fit perfectly and guide you on how to use and care for them.
Routine wear
Wear each set of aligners for about one to two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Gradually, they’ll guide your teeth into their desired position.
Progress checkups
Return for regular checkups so we can monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to keep your treatment on track.
Retainers
After completing your aligner treatment, you’ll wear a retainer to keep your teeth in their new position. Initially, this is full-time, then gradually reduced over time.

Tips for wearing your clear aligners
- Invisalign and Spark aligners must be worn for a minimum of 22 hours per day. Only take them out for brushing your teeth or eating.
- Make sure you wear your aligners in the right order, otherwise it will disrupt your treatment progress.
- Store your aligners in the case provided when you remove them to eat or brush your teeth.
- Clean your aligners regularly as instructed to prevent food and bacteria becoming trapped between your teeth and the aligner.
Teeth straightening that fits around your schedule
Invisalign and Spark are ideal for our busiest patients. Conventional fixed braces require frequent appointments to make the incremental adjustments needed to progress through the treatment. However, with Invisalign and Spark you’ll be given a series of aligners at each orthodontic appointment, which you swap yourself, usually around every two weeks. You’ll still need to see us in-practice to check on your progress, but fewer appointments are needed.
